Romanization game #2
Re: Romanization game #2
Hats off, everyone! The mad genius is back in town... (p.s. look a few posts further up)
Sadly, another of Nort's creations, /k͡ʟ̝̊ːʷ/, is not attested currently. However, it could easily happen in the future.

Speaking of which, part 2:

Re: Romanization game #2
Let's keep it simple and assign sounds to letters in alphabetical order: <a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v>. So a hypothetical example sentence /ŋʘ↑ʼuk͡ʟ̝̊ːʷaʙi gǂ͡˞χˀaʬᴙ!!o pi t͡ʃʼehiŋʘ↑ʼu/ would be written rlsjqk tjvd ak pmikrl. Simple!

Re: Romanization game #2
Not trying to beef with you or anything, but why? You added /z/ to that phonology after my reply with the romanisation, so obviously my romanisation didn't include it. If you wanted a different romanisation (of a revised phonology), why not just post it again in your next post? Seems more logical to me than editing a previous post and then demanding that the person who romanised said phonology (before the edit) has to edit their post.Ryan Aditya wrote: ↑25 Aug 2019 16:23For you Vlürch, you must edit all of your transliteration of my conlang, include /z/. Replying that I "must" edit my post and sending two PMs about it within minutes makes it sound like you're taking this a little too seriously... like, dude, it's a romanisation game, not an official governmental initiative for orthography reform of a real-world language or whatever. Having a given phonology romanised a certain way by a certain person doesn't exclude other possible romanisations by other people. If someone wants to romanise several of the previously posted phonologies at the same time in one post, nothing stops them; at least in the previous thread some people did that sometimes, myself included.
Probably very few people who post in these threads end up actually using the romanisations for their phonologies (if the phonologies even are those of a more developed conlang; they're often not), since it's just a game. The default assumption isn't that our romanisations will be used, or at least wasn't in the previous thread. I think I can speak for most of us when I say it's just fun and interesting to see how other people would romanise our phonologies, whether they're those of our beloved long-term conlangs or just something random we came up with on the spot. From that perspective, even saying "don't use [diacritics]" seems counterproductive to the spirit of the game, although it can add a fun additional challenge.
...or maybe I'm wrong, and this is serious business. It sure didn't seem that way in the previous thread, but maybe it is this time?

This is assuming there isn't a distinction between eg. /mʲæ/ and /mʲʲæ/; if there is, then only the ones with acute accents for the vowels that trigger palatalisation.)
Sounds has changed if some letters has followed by /ʲ/:
If partial palatization (/ʲ/) is 2, make sure the phoneme is normally [j], not [ʲʲ] or [ʲː]. As 0.5 + 0.5 =1 surely.
ɣ + ʲ = ɡʲ and ɣ + ʲ + ʲ = ɡj
ɸ + ʲ = fʲ and ɸ + ʲ + ʲ = fj
x + ʲ = hʲ and x + ʲ + ʲ = hj
ʋ + ʲ = vʲ and ʋ + ʲ + ʲ = vj
ɾ + ʲ = rʲ and ɾ + ʲ + ʲ = rj
ɫ + ʲ = lʲ and ɫ + ʲ + ʲ = lj
If happens double ʲ before a vowel, the vowels will change normally to basic vowels:
...ʲ + ʲæ = ja
...ʲ + ʲɛ = je
...ʲ + ʲɪ = ji
...ʲ + ʲɵ = jo
...ʲ + ʲʉ = ju
So understand about those?
