[tick] Indeed it is!
Mándinrùh wrote: 31 Oct 2021 04:44 If so, does "xoñas" mean "dreams?"
[cross] Good guess, but I'm afraid not.

Does the element cuaye- derive from a word which began with <q> in classical Latin?

Then, I'm guessing that the first part comes from Latin coeō?

Sorry, the current round is still ongoing.

That being said, should I start giving hints?

Here's what has been confirmed so far:
  • It is a noun, and the final <-s> is etymologically a plural marker, but the form cuayexoñas can be either singular or plural.
  • It does not correspond to a single word in Latin.
  • It is a compound of a verb + a plural noun.
  • -xoñas does not mean "dreams".
  • cuaye- is not derived from a word beginning with <q-> in Classical Latin.
  • The -ua- in cuaye- corresponds to a short <o> in Classical Latin.
  • Edit: cuaye- is not related to Classical Latin coeō.

Edit:

I think there's still more we can work out without hints.

Does cuaye- derive from colligō?

Since VaptuantaDoi's question was about <o>, I meant /ɔ/, but I'll confirm now that it's not from <ō>, either.

[cross] The onset of the first syllable of the word's ancestor in Classical Latin did not contain <s> or /s/.
