I'll add that it doesn't come from <cl->, either.

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2
Yes to both. For this game, it would feel unfair to me for the word not to come from Latin.
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2
Was it starting in e (short or long)?

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2
Does it come from colligō axungias? With the xoñas from plural of axungia, axungias?
Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2
The plural of axungia is axungiæ, axungias is the plural accusative.
But the romance languages use only the accusative form, so it will be more accurate to label this word axungiam with plural axungias.
Unless you're talking about Vulgar Latin.

Yes, cuaye- and -xoñas are from (inflected forms of) colligō and axungia, respectively.

No. VaptuantaDoi correctly identified the etymology of the first half of the word, and you correctly identified the etymology of the second half of the word, but the word's meaning is still unknown.thomasp3864 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021 19:10Does this mean I win?shimobaatar wrote: ↑03 Dec 2021 23:48 Yes, cuaye- and -xoñas are from (inflected forms of) colligō and axungia, respectively.

Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2
It is not.
The way you've worded this actually makes it a bit tricky to answer without potentially giving too much away, but yes, the word would/could have already been in use before the 20th century.
The word does not refer to a modern invention.
