Is the first word a preposition at all?

Did the last word have one of the suffixes -acus or -aticus?

Did any of the words have the prefix con-? (Or an assimilated form thereof)

I dunno if I’ll have much time in the next couple of weeks since class starts tomorrow, but I might as well try.

Next: àcogliuac /əkoˈʎwak/

It’s a harder one
Hmmmmm...
Is the first or last word from aqua?
Indeed, are any of the source words first-declension nouns?

Can I pass a question? [:P]. Technically, the answer is no, but change that produced the a was present in virtually every Romance language

If I'm interpreting everything correctly, I thought it was confirmed that the first word began with a vowel:

However, if that's the case, I'm having trouble thinking of what the "change that produced the /a/" and "was present in virtually every Romance language" could be if not /aː/ > /a/.

Is the change in question something that only affected a subset of words, or even just this word, rather than a more general, regular sound change? In other words, is this a case where the attested Classical Latin form begins with a vowel other than /a/, but nevertheless the reflexes of this word "in virtually every Romance language" begin, or at one point began, with /a/?

I may just be overlooking a simple solution or misinterpreting something, of course. qwed117's use of the [:P] emoji gives me the feeling that this may be the kind of thing that will end up feeling very obvious in hindsight.

You’re onto something, yes. The change in question only affected “this series of words”, at least to my knowledge. The Classical Latin form most certainly doesn’t begin with A or Ā.
