One of my favourite things about creating a language is the process of creating sayings, proverbs and other phrases, which often act as a reflection of the particular culture, beliefs, etc of those who speak that conlang. I thought that it might be interesting to create a thread similar to the one concerning lexicon building, but in here, the person prior to you will write out a saying and provide an explanation of its meaning if appropriate - you then provide a phrase in your language whose meaning is similar, and a saying for the next person to translate, and so forth.
The first saying - in vino veritas (in wine [there is] truth; i.e. folk talk truthfully when loosened up by the imbibing of alcohol.)
