Re: Amjati
Do you want the system to focus more on tense or more on aspect?

Does "Land on the edge" count as a side?

Re: Amjati
I'll figure it out eventually.
I'm not good at working directly.
(But I'd probably say aspect.)

Re: Amjati
Amjati verbs are a bitch and I finally got them stabilized. So I made another table to better show the relation between the tense marking and person marking. They affixes move around a bit and get confusing. I feel like I've created a monster. O_O
EDIT: Just realized the key is wrong. Blue and pink are switch. :-s

Re: Amjati
I could look for myself, but are each of those cells unique, or are some of the same as others?
Re: Amjati
There seems to be some reoccurring patterns, or at least that each individual column, or each individual row, on its own, contains more or less the same affix with minor differences (due to phological rules, I guess?).roninbodhisattva wrote:I could look for myself, but are each of those cells unique, or are some of the same as others?

Re: Amjati
Oh yeah- another question: what's the different between simple and potential.

Re: Amjati
Yes, I should explain.
Each cell should be unique.
The only ones that are the same are the imperatives, between the singular and plural forms with the attached pronouns.
Going across you will see the same person affix. Which can change depending on it's position. Take a look at the 3rd person masculine affix e- /ar.
Going down you will see the same tense affix. Which changes by person and number.
In each cell you have:
Affixes
Attached form
Unattached form
The simple is your regular present/past/future.
The potential covers a more murky area. It'll be used as a kind of subjunctive and conditional combined.

Re: Amjati
Also, the person affixes don't always appear the same in the attached form. I think this is what you were getting at cybercam.
And that is due to phonological rules.

Re: Amjati
Here is a very very rough draft of my Amjati grammar.
Any corrections, suggestions etc. will be most welcome.
What I want to add:
-Moar examples
-Objective based formatting (how to make a passive, how to make a comparative etc)
What I'd like to know:
- Please check my terminology. I don't know these fancy words. ;)
- Does it make any sense?

Re: Amjati
I'm confused by this sentence. Are you saying that the simple and imperative have merged? Or is it just a brainfart?Ossicone wrote:Amjati verbs have three moods – simple, potential and imperative. The simple is an imperative sentence and the potential is used for both subjunctive and conditional meanings.
Everything else makes sense. I would want a little more detail, sure, but that will come in time.

Re: Amjati
Not really. There aren't too many palatals and they are put to good use.
