126: A
For the source of long vowels, I think it would be cool for them to come from diphthongs, e.g.
ei, oi, eu, ou → iː, ei, ou, uː → iː, eː, oː, uː
ei, oi, eu, ou → ei, ei, ou, ou → iː, iː, uː, uː
ei, oi, eu, ou → ei, ei, ou, ou → eː, eː, oː, oː
ei, oi, eu, ou → eː, oː, eː, oː
ei, oi, eu, ou → ii, ui, iu, uu → iː, ɯː, yː, uː
(That last one is pretty weird, but maybe /ɯː/ can lower and shorten and merge with /ə/.)
If we decide to introduce /ai au/, they may or may not be included in these changes as well, an /oi eu/ might not change either, or might become /ei ou/.
Also, will we ever talk about dialectal variation?

It would be interesting to vote on. We could vote on how the dialects are divided in the British Isles, or exactly what would set them apart from each other.

Re: British Romance Language Collablang
The results are in!
-
126) Should the phonemes /ai au/ be reintroduced through loanwords?
a) Yes.
-
There was a 3-way tie for this question so it will be voted on again.
125) Should Middle Brettaniot develop a phonemic length distinction?
a) Yes, through sound changes such as /VCə/ > /VːC/. This would lead to words such as niçe /nit͡sə/ "nice" being pronounced as [niːt͡s]
b) Yes, but new long vowels are created through diphthongs. (proposed by this_is_an_account) - The exact sound changes will be shown in detail right underneath this question.
c) Same as b but /ai au/ are unaffected if they are introduced (proposed by shimobaatar)
d) ei, oi, eu, ou → iː, ei, ou, uː → iː, eː, oː, uː (proposed by shimobaatar)
-
127) How should /ai au/ be written?
a) /ai au/ <ae ao> (proposed by shimobaatar)
Suggest different options here!
128) What dialectical divide should we implement in Middle Brettaniot?
a) North-South divide (Less Norman influence / More Norman influence)
b) East-West divide (More Brythonic influence / Less Brythonic influence)
c) Northwest-Southeast divide (More Nordic influence / Less Nordic influence)
d) Other.
These are the sound changes that have happened so far from Vulgar Latin to Middle Brettaniot.
And here's the current phonology of Middle Brettaniot.
Voting closes next Saturday at 21:00 EDT, or next Sunday at 01:00 UTC. Results will be posted around 30 minutes after that.
