What is the newest word in your conlang?
Re: What is the newest word in your conlang?
Thanks to Eldin, Humrayan has a new word: "Sarpanagha," which is the Humrayan word for a plant disease called "Witch's Broom":
Sarpanagha has two parts to it: "Sarpa" comes from the Sanskrit word "Sarpa," meaning "Snake," which is related to the word "Serpent." And "Nagha" means "Knot." Sarpanagha, because the Witch's Broom looks like a "rat king" of snakes.

Oh, cool. Broom is known as frazhea in Kankonian.
The newest Kankonian word is nakhiy, a one-morpheme word meaning "to descry, to catch sight of, to spy". I don't know how the absence of a word for this in Kankonian escaped detection for so many years!

The newest word in Basha Humrayan is "Hebragnayaca" (he-brag-NAY-ah-cha) which means "June Bug."
Hebragnayaca is made of two main partsː Hebra + Agnayaca.
Hebra comes from the Ancient Egyptian word "hprr/hprj" (Kheper/Khepri) meaning a Scarab Beetle. Agnayaca is the Humrayan name for the month of June. Agnayaca is named after the Vedic god of fire Agni, and the final +ca ending of Agnayaca is a truncation of the Humrayan word "Candla" [from Sanskrit Candra] meaning moon and month.
Hebragnayaca literally means the Scarab of Agni's Month (the beginning of the season of Summer, the hottest season of the year).
The Hebrangayaca is the sacred Sun Beetle of the Humrayan Sun god "Sulaya" [from Sanskrit Surya + Latin Sol]. It is sent by Sulaya to the earth as a sign of the commencement of Summer.
Re: What is the newest word in your conlang?
Interesting you mention this bc in my conlang I have roots for kheb- where khebra means mystical land of the lion kings. Kheb means abode/heaven. Different to -álce meaning place/location. In this lang you can't do khebálce as this would mean death's door. Oh a new word I just made up.Hebragnayaca is made of two main partsː Hebra + Agnayaca.

I just made the first ever word for my new conlang: /su.'ka/. It means "tree."
Re: What is the newest word in your conlang?
My most recent word in Ligodu is lo'omssaf /lo:mʃaf/, which simply means 'field'. Ligodu is still in a pretty early stage of development, so lo'omssaf literally just means 'grass place'.

What I've been doing lately is thinking about cognates between Lihmelinyan and Arculese:
eagle
Lih. elássēr Arc. iláttīr
shoulder
Lih. érkanan Arc. írkanom
pine tree
Lih. álgēn Arc. álgif
The latter one being the oddest one. -if from Proto Mantic -ens (-ns to -f, regular sound change in Arculese, cf. Arc. accusative plural ending -f with Lih. -ns)

In my Welsh based conlang Gwernox, the newest word is KENGOR. Meaning advice. It's pronounced KENG-GOR. And it comes from the Welsh Cyngor.Allekanger wrote: ↑03 May 2020 16:30 I couldn't find an earlier thread on the same topic, so I though I'd create a new one. With some inspiration from this thread I would like to know: what is the most recent addition to your conlang's lexicon? How did it come to be (sudden flash of inspiration, derivation of previously existing words etc.)? What are your own reflections on your new word?
Feel free to include its meaning, pronunciation, glossing, derivation, conscript, etymology, concultural context and/or real word inspiration for your word. Please limit entries to one word for each post. You're welcome to post new words as your lexicon is expanded.

The newest Kankonian word is krawavom, meaning "feminine product". It comes from krawavi (to menstruate; menstruation) + the suffix -om, on analogy with khuphus (feces) -> khuphusom (diaper). -om is a suffix for bags that appears in words like wensom (grocery bag), *uyubom (potato sack), and sabazom (loot sack).

What is the newest word in Rireinutire? That depends on your definition of 'word'.
You could say that the newest word is the one meaning 'slang', ie. definitions 3 and 4 of
puru /ˈpuɹu/ n. i.
1. dialect, variant speechform;
2. accent (as in 'X-ish accent');
3. slang, jargon (esp. technical), techspeak;
4. slang, argot, cant
That is the definition I created the most recently. Or, you could say that the newest word is the newest lemma form, which is
nainopoya /ˈnɑiˌnopojɑ/ n. r. slanderer, defamer
The latter is slightly older, but by less than an hour. Then again, you could say that the newest word is the newest root. That took a little digging, but CWS records show that the newest root (from 26 October) is
ñamu /ˈŋɑmu/ n. i.
1. shadow (imperfect or faint representation);
2. shape, figure (esp. indistinct); indistinct object;
3. (pattern recognition) pattern
So, one of those three.
