Re: What did you accomplish today?

Over the past few days I really began my work on the Ampwanitz language, the telepathic lingua franca of the homa of the planet Pluos. I decided on its phonemic inventory and phonotactics (allophones will come later). I also worked out all twelve noun declensions -- it's a language a lot like the Classical IE languages (Latin, Greek, Sanskrit). There are twelve declensions, eight cases (nominative, genitive, kinship, accusative, dative, instrumental, vocative, and oblique), and three numeri (singular, plural, and subsingular).

Finally, I worked out the number system (decimal, as the homa have five finges on each hand) and created over 130 words (including many numbers, the names of the planets in Blu-lar, and many futuristic/high-tech alien concepts that were borrowed into Kankonian).

I'm going to start creating hundreds of plant, animal, etc. species from the bioswath that includes the homa over the next few days. This bioswath has black plants. Many classes will receive their LIE names from Ampwanitz, so I'm going to want to have a solid language to do all this species-naming.

EDIT: Just did all the words on this list and now Ampwanitz is up to 386 words.

Also decided that the ancient language from which Quispe got its roots for inkhorn words is called Mazmiza.

Took the opportunity to make the word for plant klebiz, since it's not every Leholang wherein I can derive the word for "plant" from the word for "black".

I did the Basic 200 List for this one too, and now Quispe's lexicon count is up to an even 350.

After three days, I just finished drawing all the major species in the black plant bioswath that includes such sapients as the azhwea, the mophmon, the sochitl, the kektes, the homa, and the añak. I guess I should really call it a megabioswath, since no one planet has all, nor even three fourths of the species I've drawn.

My favorite creatures include the midia, a nectarozoan (class with nipples that gives a nectary substance called ñu -- the añak's class) that resembles a ground sloth with a canine head. I came up with the midia in a dream, whereon I saw this creature in a Mien friend's backyard, on the ground below her cablehouse (like a treehouse, only it runs on a cable like a cable car) and we were afraid of being eaten by it. I was told in a dream that the creature was known as "mi dia" in Laos. Other favorites include a binga (arthrologue phylum on these planets) that looks like a scorpion with wings; an ophiologue (snake analogue) with yellow and back stripes that has a stinger in back like a bee's or wasp's; monotreme nectarozoans that resemble four-legged kiwis and moas; the dreadlock plant, a pteridologue black plant that resembles a bunch of dreadlocks; and the pistrabhia-grramia (another dream inspiration), a flowering black plant that belongs to a flowering plant class with two distinct types of flowers on a single individual in the species (one is the magenta, orchid-like pistrabhia and the other is the white, lily-like grramia).

All in all, I drew for this megabioswath 7 viruses, 7 bacteria, 7 protozoa, 15 algae, 13 bolsotetams (fungus-like kingdom of organisms that produce a sweet, fruity flesh body on top that's good to eat when it's rotting), 245 black plants, and 370 animals.

I had recently bought some blank unlined index cards. They come, with a hole punched in one end and several metal rings to hold them together. Two boxes of 300 cards. I finally got all of my words I've created so far for my Shu language onto the cards. I put the English word on one side and the Shu word on the other. So now comes the hard part of learning the words as I go along. [:D] My goal is not only to finally finish creating a language for the first time, but also to learn it so I can speak it fluently as well as write it, and remember the script for it.

A new case system I'm thinking of:

Fem:

Code: Select all

Nom: -u / -ū
Acc: -atu / -utū
Ins: -asu / -usū
Cns: -0 / -ē
Masc:

Code: Select all

Nom: -i / -ī
Acc: -eti / -itī
Ins: -esi / -isī
Cns: -0 / -ē
The goal of the case system is to make the suffixes never stressed and to have a certain kind of moraic rhythm
Rēbi alāditī ilgusū palti
[ˈrɛː.bi ɒˈlɒː.di.tiː ˈil.gu.suː ˈpɒl.ti]
man-M.NOM.SG warrior-M.ACC.PL fish-F.INS.PL ACT-NFUT-give-3ms
"the man gave the warriors (with) some fish"

There is still the double object construction, which exists in colloquial varieties:
Rēbili alādāli ilgā palti
[ˈrɛː.bi.li ɒ.lɒːˈdɒː.li ˈil.gɒː ˈpɒl.ti]
man-M.NOM.SG-DEF warrior-C.OBL.PL-DEF fish-C.OBL.PL ACT-NFUT-give-3ms
"the man gave the warriors (with) some fish"

Added three consonant clusters to Shu, and chose three Unicode characters for them. The first was "tr" which is "Ť" The second is "ʃhp" which is "Ŝ" and
"ʃht", which is "Ş". I already had "t͡s" which is "Ŧ".

I finally settled on a morphosyntactic alignment for Miyorran (tripartite) and started working out the case system. Six cases so far, and there will be more once I decide whether to make a sole locative and temporal case or divide them up.

The foundation for the tɐ́lʒrə̬k language has been laid and it is super solid. Hopefully soon I will have my website up and running. tɐ́lʒrə̬k has a bunch of vocabulary already and my next step is to build an actual tɐ́lʒrə̬k language dictionary. I have set my sights high for this one. My goal is to reach 1,800 idioms. That is one idiom a day for five years and a 9,000 word dictionary as well that is five words per day. By the end of five years from now I could possibly have more words and idioms. This is my goal.

Today I have accomplished 1 idiom and 5 words!

Added two prepositions to Ampwanitz, borrowed into Kankonian and LIE, with equivalents in many languages of advanced Lehola peoples.

The words are pwemo and zuo. "Pwemo" means "at a lower-numbered dimension than", while "zuo" means "at a higher-numbered dimension than". So if you are in the fourth dimension and Dzhusinda is in the fifth dimension, you are currently pwemo Dzhusinda, and Dzhusinda is zuo you.
