Creating a Creole

Post by WesleyDeanT »

I've started a series developing a creole and I'd love (not only fans, but) input, advice, critique! Bring it on! Or just enjoy the ride!

I enjoyed this. Looks like an interesting and well thought-through project, nicely presented too.

Was interested in the avoidance of languages which are too closely related. In a language contact of two closely related, but not mutually intelligible languages, am I right in thinking creolisation is not on the cards - instead there will be lots of code-switching, fairly easy L2 learning through immersion, and perhaps the generation of a sprachbund?

If you have any insights into the ways sprachbunds and pigin/creoles relate and differ, I would be very curious.

I don’t have anything interesting to say yet.
