CBB Conlang Relay XIII

Post by Click »

Welcome to the 13th CBB Conlang Relay!

At the start of your turn, you will receive a short text written in a conlang of the previous participant. The PM will contain some grammar info and a short glossary - just enough to translate the text. Your job is to make sense of the text, translate it to your language, and pass the document ("torch") with necessary info for translation to the next person in line. You’ve got 3 days / 72 hours for your turn.

As I’m the organizer, make sure to send me the torch together with the English translation of the text.

Once the relay is completed, the final text will be revealed and compared with the original, and I’ll also make all in-between stages available.

Edit: The relay is finished! You can see the results here.

Step-by-step instructions are given below.
  1. Write down an English translation of the text you received.
  2. Translate the text into your conlang.
  3. Compose a short document with enough info for the next participant (vocabulary + grammar notes).
  4. Send the next participant a message containing 2. and 3.
  5. Send the organizer (me) a message containing all of 1., 2. and 3.
For reference, the previous relay can be found here. If you have any questions, ask away!

The conlang goblin returns from their thousand-year slumber.

I'd like to use Awatese. (Back by popular demand...?)

I should really join, since I think I missed the last one and it looked like it was a lot of fun. And I really want to build up a bit more vocabulary for Kobardon and practise its grammar. So, with Kobardon I'll join.

Hi - I haven't been on in a while but I've heard about the relay from Jack. I'd like to participate with Kaxangulá, an isolate that isn't part of any collaborative projects. It's pretty synthetic if anyone has strong feelings about that.

I'll join, not entirely sure which lang yet. If the text doesn't have too much modern vocab (or if you don't mind me adapting words vaguely related to technology i don't have very liberally) i might join with Wu Eendehen. If not i'll see if i get Yatååkåå or Yako'e at a more translation-ready state in time. (If i don't get anything ready i'll just default to Yashuhay)

Thanks for organising! I'd also like to join with an as-of-yet unnamed language.

I'd like to join as well, probably with Blit (unless I'll flesh out Aju-Ngajama enough).

I'd like to join with Alál!

My conlanging's been on hold for a while for real-world linguistics stuff to get done, but I need to do something fun with morphology before I go entirely mad, and these are always a blast.
Edit: Substituted a string instrument for a French interjection.

I'd like to join too. After three relays with Yélian, I will switch things up a bit and use Paatherye this time.

I prefer to not be referred to with masculine pronouns and nouns such as “he/him/his”.

Hi all! 🙂

I’ve updated the OP with the schedule. The relay should start next Monday (March 1), and everybody will have three days’ time to do their part.
If you expect you’re going to be busy when it’s your turn, make sure to post here & I’ll adjust the schedule for you.

If you missed the relay, you can still join!
Sign-ups are open and will remain so for most of the duration of the relay.

Can you put Yatååkåå as my language please?

It's close enough to ready that I'm fairly confident it's gonna be in time.

I’ll pass the torch to Jack and protondonor tomorrow. Apologies for being late, I’ve been very busy this week.
