So it's the classical five vowel system, but, when you tried to associate the vowels to the vowels in English, it feels like speaking English with a Hispanic accent.
Nevermind, I just noticed you fixed it.
short /o/ doesn't occur in the usual varieties of English. I like to use yawn, and Italian Ombra in my own transcriptions IMO.

Right, I actually only use German word examples, but I wanted to try English for this forum as well.
But I think everything is right now :)

English is just complicated...
Yes; at least, our vowels are.

Sorry for the hijacking: there's an old saying from another board - 'sooner or later, all threads if they last long enough become English pronunciation discussions'...

Two examples for a sentence in Solenja.

The bird flew into the cage.
La pajaro io vuelo en la gabbia.
/la pajaro io vuelo ɛn la gabbia/

[DEF.ART bird fly in DEF.ART cage.]

———
She baked a cake for her wife.
voze io orneo una pastel por tia mulher.
/vose io orneo una pastɛl por tia mulɛr/
[3SG. PST bake INDEF.ART cake for 3PL.POSS woman.

i guess it’s right...

I just wanted to point out that is is hard to comment on this sentence for anything but visual aesthetics, if you do not provide an explanation and/or glossing. Even a word-for-word translation would already help to acknowledge the beauty of your conlang.

This language seems to me more an IAL/creole than a normal language.
If you want it to be a creole (mixed and simplified language) or auxlang, it's OK. But if you want it to be realistic romance language, like Spanish & French, you have to invent regular sound changes from vulgar Latin and then apply them to Latin words and endings, modify grammar, semantic shifts, etc.

On page one it says that Solenja is a Creole language. :)

Esperanto is a auxlang, if you mean this.

Solenja was started as a „artlang“ but it would be me happy, if it comes to a auxlang.

Yes, my language is spoken on my fictional island.

But thanks 😊

Schaust dem Schmetterling hinterher, währenddessen ich deine Hand nehme und sage wie sehr ich dich liebe.

How does Solenja handle comparisons ("more/less ... than" "as ... as")?
"they are stronger than them", "they are less strong than them", "they are as strong as them"
„ili esta mas fuerte come ili“, „ili esta poco fuerte come ili“, „ili esta tan fuerte come ili“
/ili ɛsta mas fu‘ɛrtə komə ili/ /ili ɛsta poko fu‘ɛrtə komə ili/ /ili ɛsta tan fu‘ɛrtə komə ili/
„3PL is more strong how 3PL“, „3PL is less strong how 3PL“, „3PL is exactly strong how 3PL“
