Whoo-hoo! It's that time of the year again.
Almost precisely one year after the last relay XIV launched.

For beginners, a conlang relay is an event where you receive a text from another person in their conlang, together with a relevant vocabulary list and the language's grammar. You then translate this text to English (or your native language), and then into your own conlang. You will then pass on the text in your conlang to the next person, together with a relevant vocabulary list and your language's grammar.

In short, what you need to do to participate is, in order:

1. Translate the text you received to English
2. Translate the English text into your conlang
3. Write a quick grammar write-up of your conlang with relevant information for the text (hint: a concise, clear list with only relevant points is always better than your full 79-pages reference grammar!)
4. Write a vocabulary list for the text
5. Send the text in your conlang, the grammar write-up, and the vocabulary list to the next person in the list
6. Send the text in your conlang and the English version of the text to me (the organizer)
7. Write a reply in this thread to inform everyone that you have passed the relay torch.

The relay started on Friday, September 9, Signups are closed now! Feel free to join in the next relay.

Turnaround time per person is 72 hours. It's a soft time limit, and it's absolutely not a problem if life gets in the way of handing it over in time - but please try not to stretch it too excessively. A week (thereby including at least one full weekend) should be a very reasonable time to finish your task. If you can already foresee that you have an extremely stressful time ahead right when your turn is about to come - we all have these times, and they suck - kindly give a heads-up in time and we can shift you further back in the queue.

Tips and tricks from the last relay:

TIPS & TRICKS
If you cannot for the life of you find a word from the text in the lexicon you've been given, don't hesitate to message your predecessor. No-one is infallible and we forget random words all the time. :)
Once you have translated your given text into English, consider doing a quick rewrite to smooth over any awkward phrasings or non sequiturs. Not only will this improve the coherency of your English translation and make it easier to render in your language (and later to decipher!), but it will also help the process of Chinese Whispers along!

I'll plan with one ring for now, but if we have a lot of participants I'll switch it to two independent rings.

And don't forget the most important rule of all: Have fun!

The CBB relay goblin returns once again from his hundred-year slumber, this time with a different conlang pulled out of his dank, dark conlang bin.

I would like to join with Selekain. Also, If I may ask, I would like to be placed towards the end of the relay since I am rewriting some parts of the grammer concerning relative clauses and I would like some time to finish that up.

Just FYAI, I have already prepared a text. But I'll still wait until Friday next week (September 16) before we officially start. Sometime at the beginning of next week I am going to determine whether we have one ring or two, as we already have plenty of participants!

I'm up for another round, but I'll be out of town from the 21st through the 28th, so I can't go in that timeframe.

As nobody else has signed up for two days, I think there are not so many more people coming. In that case, I don't think it is necessary to wait one more week to start.
I am going to finish my grammar write-up, and then send the first torch to kiwikami tomorrow. We will have one ring.

I put you and Man in Space behind loglorn, as both he and Acipencer asked to be shifted further behind in the relay.

And so it begins! I have sent the first torch to Kiwikami.
