A song from a commercial. is it a natlang???

Post by Birdlang »

The synthesizer plays, and it says something in a language on a Microsoft or Apple commercial. Is it a natlang?

Could you give us a link, perhaps?

Happen to know what commercial they're talking about. Apparently a lot of other people are curious too. I searched Youtube with what I thought the lyrics were, and it corrected me. Here's the song's music video:

Considering the artists are South Korean, perhaps the opening lyrics are in Korean.

Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure I heard that commercial briefly the other day when I walked past my parents watching TV. If the song that the link goes to is the song in the commercial, I'm positive it's Korean, as you've said.

Yep, seems to be Korean:

I Am The Best (lyrics)

내가 제일 잘 나가 (opening line)
Naega jeil jal naga
I am the best (Google translate)
I best (Bing translator)
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Do they not sound like native speakers to you?

I just found out it is 2NE1, it is strange that they sounded like they were speaking Qiang and not Korean, they did not sound like native speakers.

Actually, I was talking about the poor lyrics.

However, it is true that most of the times kpop-ish korean doesn't sound like natural korean. I think it is because they're trying to sound american, somehow.

Ah, OK. I'm afraid I can't comment on the quality of the lyrics myself since I don't speak Korean.

Although I think I might know what you mean about them trying to sound American in a way. I can't say why it feels like that to me, but it does.

As for the American thing, I know J-rock singers like to sing /a/ as [æːːː] at least.

I was close when I heard it the first time. I thought they were saying "negache chalaka".
