Tones and Vowel Allophony

Post by Sankon »

In tonal languages, does tone affect vowels (e.g. I always want to pronounce /ə˩˥/ as [ɤ˩˥]~[ɘ˩˥])? I haven't seen any information on tone-vowel interactions anywhere.

I myself have never had a vowel quality change when I pronounce a vowel with a different tone; I should look into it [googles it]: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=c ... ality+tone
