[:fin: Kissa ja kala
Oli kerrankissa.
SeOli pieni ja valkoinen.
Kun herätti oli paljon nälkäinen! Kun se heräsi, se oli hyvin nälkäinen.
Siis meni hakemaan ruokaa. Siis se meni etsimään ruokaa.
Haki puun takana ja löysi terhon. Se etsi puun takaa ja löysi terhon.
Mutta kissa ei syö terhoja! Why not in singular?
Haki kiven alla ja löysi hyönteisen. Se katsoi kiven alle ja löysi hyönteisen/ötökän.
Mutta kissa ei syö hyönteisiä! Why not in singular? Kissat eivät syö hyönteisiä.
Haki talossa ja näki jotain paljon mielenkiintoista pyödällä. Se etsi talosta ja näki jotain hyvin mielenkiintoista pöydällä.
Oli kala! Ynnä hän rakasti syödä kaloja! Se oli kala! Ja se rakasti kalojen syömistä.
Siis hän hyppäsi pyödälle ja tarttui kalaan. Good! I would call cat 'se' it in Finnish
Voi ei! Ihminen katsoi hänet tarttumassa kalaan. Ihminen näki sen tarttuvan...
Pieni kissa hyppäsi ikkunan läpi ja piiloutoi pellolla. Throgh? ikkunasta ulos
Hän söi kalan onnelisesti. onnellisena. Eating is not happy but the cat.
Mutta nyt oli paljon väsynyt. Mutta nyt se oli hyvin väsynyt.

(I hardly ever get to practice my Finnish, and some of these words I've just had to look up, so this may too be full of errors. Any Finnish-speaking conlangers, please feel free to correct.[/quote]

Subjects?
Well, I don't speek Polish at all.

Paljon kiitoksia! I'm so used to Polish, in which subjects are more optional. If something is already identified as the subject previously, you don't have to keep saying 'it/he/she'. I must have assumed that Finnish was the same. Now I'll remember that you must always use them.

I wasn't sure in sentences which express a general subject (and/or object), like 'cats don't eat acorns', whether the general subject or object should be in the singular or plural. In English the indefinite plural is used, but I didn't know what's used in Finnish. In the sentence about bugs, you said 'Why not in singular? Kissat eivät syö hyönteisiä.' So the plural should be used for both - 'kissat eivät' and 'hyönteisiä'?

What's the difference between 'etsiä' and 'hakea'

And finally, I'm not familiar with the declension of 'onnellisena'. I thought you just add 'sti' to the root to make it an adverb.

Kiitos korjauksista! Minä toivon, etteivät nämä lisäkysymykset vaivaa sinua.
Thanks for the corrections! I hope these further questions don't bother you. ;-)

Hey, I just finished my (probably crappy) translation of this neat little story into goshpysheshta. It's full of mistakes I guess and I have no transcription. But it's the first time I wrote a larger part of text in my new script. Enjoy!

This is the Kiswona translation. It's written pretty formally. In normal conversation it would be much less verbose due to tense, aspect and mood markers being dropped once context has been established.

[but, cat-PL acorn-PL-ACC eat-3.PL-DEON-NEG]

There's no need to put []s around your glosses. In fact []s used in glossing notation so it's probably better not to put them.
But congrats on your longest translation! [:)]

Yeah..thanks...more than half of those words were invented on the spot. And there's probably some incorrect parts. Maybe I'll try to pronounce it and upload it.
