I am what time and circumstance have made me.

In a relative clause, a subject tends to get shunted to the right if it gets very complex, especially if the other arguments are relatively simple. And that's what happens in this translation with "lo tan e lla ttchirconstànche" going at the end of the sentence.

1S.SBJ be.1S REL DEF.N time and DEF.N circumstance 1S.OBL make-PP have-3P
"I am what time and circumstance have made me."

Nothing special although it does illustrate an orthographic caveat in <hawes>. A single <w> is always interpreted as making a closed syllable, so that the <a> in <hawes> is short even though it looks like it's in an open syllable and should be pronounced /aː/. In this position, <w> is the result of the historical merging of <vv>. In a truly open syllable, this word would be spelled <*haves>
