Con-Script Development Centre

Post by AndivahXevos »

Welcome! This thread's purpose is to enable me to share with you some grapheme ideas that I have accumulated over some time. All of the ideas that I post are original, and I don't plan to use them (unless otherwise stated). Feel free to use these grapheme drawings for developing your conlang(s).

Also feel free to post your own drawings if you want! I like seeing what others come up with! Just make sure you state whether others may use your work. Thank you, and have fun!

To start, I will post one of my oldest ideas that has collected dust (hypothetically speaking). It was the start of an ideograph language. (I have no access to the printer at the moment...)

I made an abjad, I suppose one can use it as long as you don't claim it's yours, also, preferrably you should call it whatever you would call Alḵavat Vřḵaẕī ['al.xa.vat vɹ̩xaʒi] in your language.

I made handrawings of my script before but then I turned it into a font.

That's fabulous! I remember seeing something like this in a different thread here. What method did you use to make your font?

I used a program called FontCreator.

For the curves, I took Capital U and sometimes shorten or widen it.
For the sides of J and N I used parenthesis.

This is all in Arial-font style too.

I do hope not just my language uses it.

If I didn't have so many loose ends on my conlang(s), I would offer to make a secondary Lang based on those glyphs. I just seem to be addicted to glyph-making! @_@

Make glyphs based on your conculture if you have one.
My conculture is obsessed with death, so these glyphs are based on them.

For example, my F looks like a vulture (it's the bottom-most glyph above the line with the ring under the hook of the cane-shape).

I normally create glyphs based on a feeling or stylistic look (omitting the picture I submitted). My problem is that I create too many separate sets to work on at one time.

I'm getting better, though. Now I focus on what sets I want to grow into a language (and then we will see about a culture).

The following is an example of what I mean. (I created this just a couple of days before.)

This is just a preview of some of the sketch. I definitely want to use this in my own conlang/conworld sometime. It's way too good to waste! Does anyone have any suggestions for it?

I've dug another one of my grapheme sketches out of the file box. My internet situation is a little complicated right now, so I apologize for the quality of the pictures from my phone.

This is an abugida for scrapped tone language of mine:
Here are the consonants, each with an inherent schwa and mid tone, with their sounds and names:
Image

The vowel signs are written underneath the consonants. Here they are, under the void consonant:

The tone signs are written above the consonants. Here they are with the void consonant and the vowel <a>:

(tones are ˥ ˧ ˩ ˧˩ ˧˥ ˥˧˦ ˩˧˨ <ä a ā à á ǎ â>)
Here is an example:

It says:
"Sâr Büt krāi nhéa"

Feel free to use it as long as you give me full credit!

I quite like the names for the letters as well as the overall idea.

I'm curious about how you created your letters and marks. Also, did you make any words or grammar system for it?

It was made for a civilization that was influenced by Malays and Thai, so most of it comes from the Jawi and Thai scripts.
Here's the thread for the language, before it was scrapped:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3273&p=132653&hilit=hengese#p132653

Also, here's another script I created, but I'm using it right now. But it's OK if someone would take a few graphemes from it, if their stuck.:

I suspect it's because of my grapheme for <n>.
Yeah, no one should use that one.
There is an in-conworld justification for my conpeople using that symbol. I'm also making a comment on the nature of the con-tribe using the alphabet

There should be a circle under the <m> grapheme, otherwise it becomes She-mea-to-vea.
