The invisible woman

Got this from the conlanging group on FB, and since I had both concepts (invisibility and woman) figured out in Vanga already, I decided to give it a try.

Vanga uses a generalised system of incorporated nouns along with a passive verb to express stuff like this.

Rireinutire forms neike 'visible' as a participle of the verb neita 'to be visible', and adds the caritive adjectival suffix -nopo to produce neikenopo 'invisible'.

It is seen as demeaning to refer to sapient beings as female (or, as the case may be, male1) so unless the context requires a reference to reproductive biology, 'woman' would be translated simply as kave 'person'. The word for 'female' is kani, so a female person would be kanikave.

In Hoavi, there are two ways to translate this sentence:

Vuinga roja

Here, a stative verb ("to be X") is derived from vui- "air". This translation would put emphasis on the fact that the woman is disappearing or has disappeared.

The second option puts more emphasis on the fact that the woman can't be seen:

Here, the translation uses the verb "to see" with the passivizing inverse marker pa-. So more literally, this means "the woman isn't being seen". Plain and simple.

I understand your skepticism. Sapient beings that are biologically male do sound like some particularly outrageous scientifiction conceit. But I assure you, they are real.
