Welcome to Lexember, a monthlong game that challenges players to create at least one new word in one of their conlangs daily from the 1st through the 31st of December, and to post it here in this thread. This is the 7th year of the Lexember tradition, and its 6th year on the CBB!
If you miss a day, you could always post two words the next day. Sometimes, players will go back and forth between using different conlangs of theirs, or use multiple throughout the entire month. Others might use a single conlang for all 31 days, but make multiple words each day. Some conlangers like to include etymologies for their words, and/or example sentences. Additionally, some people try to make words that fit in with weekly themes that they either decide on themselves or are suggested by the thread. Of course, you can play however you'd like!
Commenting on and taking inspiration from the words others have made is always encouraged! It's been mentioned in previous years that communities of conlangers on various social media platforms also participate in Lexember (in fact, I believe it was started on Twitter), so if you're active elsewhere, you might consider posting your words there, too.
A few years ago, there was an attempt to come up with suggested weekly themes for the entire thread. I'd like to try to do that again this year, although, as I said, these themes would only be suggestions, and no one would be required to follow them. You can interpret the themes however you'd like. I'll be updating this post every Sunday with a new theme.
Weekly Themes:
- Week 1 (Dec. 1): Singularity
- Week 2 (Dec. 2-8): Light and Heat
- Week 3 (Dec. 9-15): Geography and Toponymy
- Week 4 (Dec. 16-22): Weather, Climate, and the Seasons
- Week 5 (Dec. 23-29): Body Parts, Kinship Terms, and Personal Names
- Week 6 (Dec. 30-31): Beginnings, Endings, Changes, Processes, Opportunities, and Time
