What are you listening to/watching?

What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

From this twisted video short, I learned some important things:

1) Unleash the power within you, then SITT
2) take time to PONDERMENT what is around yœu
3) find the INTRIGUISTING in EVERYTHING

It's warm up in Yorkshire, so got my summertime folk metal playlist going, so a random assortment of Arkona, TrollfesT, Korpiklaani, Turisas, Alestorm, and Equilibrium, with a hint of Skálmöld, Týr, In Extremo, and Dalriada.

Throwing together a playlist as I go [:P]
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Loving each and every amped up tune, until I got to Pirate. I had to stop there b/c I could not stop laughing; I immediately sent this version of it
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... rry+pirate
to my son, who loves this song and all the ridiculous YTPs that (ab)use the Robby Rotten (RIP) version.
A veritable shower of badass gobshites, the whole lot!!!! [xP] [+1]

Right before I listened to the little Alestrom Odyssey, I was taking in mine own Miðsumars Eddaguðspjall :

b/c it's Summer, and b/c my recent translation (go ahead 'n; try it! You'll be glad U did!) made me think of one of these tunes, and b/c next year at this time I will be awash in tears [:'(] b/c my Beamish Boy will be zooming off to la Fac, and these two songs IMHO epitomize collegiate revelry (or, at least they did when I went) ~

I listened to some - Interesting & Thanks for sharing!

Until that epiphany came to my shores, I was unbrainwashing my mind this Summerswane with a combo of Caribou (mostly Andorra, but other tunes) and Klaatu.

Spurred by your offering, Xonen, I looked for some similar casts/recordings on Soundcloud for Coptic and Carpatho-Rusyn. Only chants in Coptic and a lot of "Coptic" themed casts in Arabic (a few in English). A few more offerings in Carpatho-Rusyn.

My quest, she continues…

Recently watched:

Yesterday [:3] [tick]
Annihilation [o.O] [tick]
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald [:S] [maybe]

"Yesterday" charmed me, and I think it's just adorable. "Annihilation" messed with my head to the point that I didn't feel quite myself for the next day or so … but, like, in a good way. As for "Fantastic Beasts," I'm not mad, just disappointed.

Recently I've been putting together a spreadsheet of podcasts in my target languages, so I've been listening to episodes from both podcasts I normally listen to and new ones that have come up in my recommendations. It's my immediate goal to have two or three dozen German-language podcasts organized by average episode length, topic, and producer. Then I'd like to start adding basic information and my own thoughts for the purpose of sharing with others; then I'll move on to other languages and perhaps start to organize things based on approximate difficulty for a non-native speaker.

The main difficulty is diversifying by producer: it's easy to find a half-dozen podcasts produced by a major newspaper or radio station that I know I like, but anyone can find that. I could look up the top 100 podcasts in Germany/Austria/Switzerland, but I suspect the vast majority of those won't really interest me, and I want my spreadsheet to reflect my tastes. At least I'm listening to a lot of different content either way.

I thought Yesterday looked like a fun movie, but I was afraid everything good had been put into the trailers. Maybe I should check it out; I think it's still in theaters.

I wanted to go deeper and deeper into conlangs and maybe learn the basics of a couple of them, but then, I noticed I'm listening to more and more music in Hungarian... I must resist the urge to learn this language, as I have a feeling it'll take years to achieve some decent level of it, with all of these declensions, cases etc!

For me, the movie had more to offer than just what I saw in the trailers. And the movie seems to enjoy itself, like you can tell that everyone is having fun.

Speaking of movies that have fun:

Spider-Man: Homecoming [:D] [tick]

Figures I would get my first opportunity to watch it just after learning Spider-Man might get kicked out of the MCU. I really like this version of him, and the movie manages to avoid some of the bad habits of other Marvel movies (e.g. reflexive killing-off of extras).

Anarchadelphia 2019 presents: Mark Passio - The Sacred Gift of Anger

Found that interesting video about spider fights in Japan: Samurai-Spinnen (Samurai spiders)| Galileo. I like the natural way the people interact with spiders, but I don't like how spiders are (mis)used for human induced fighting.

I agree, he does a really good job giving the rundown on the procession of the theory from the start to its debunking. It's always nice to see a new NativLang video's been released.

Now, however, due to the metal thread I'm on a Gloryhammer binge. Currently I'm on Universe on Fire.

I've been listening to a lot of trance and progressive house, but I think I'm starting to get tired of the genre and listen to something else.
