Subordination

Main clauses must have a subject - possibly excluding some impersonal expressions -. In subordinate clauses the subject is dropped, if it is the same as that of the main clause. In (1), there is no explicite subject between koy 'after' and kây 'go'.

(1)
Koy kây bo s-neub, nib s-mon s-yök.
after go to DEF-home, see DEF-man DEF-child
'When the man went home, he saw his children.'

I'm still considering if there should be distinct same-subject conjunctions, but maybe they are not needed.

Dlor subordinate conjunctions code factual-nonfactual-counterfactual distinction very explicitly.

koy 'ANTERIOR, FACTUAL'
dee 'ANTERIOR, NONFACTUAL'
re 'ANTERIOR, COUNTERFACTUAL'

(2)
Dee kây bo s-neub, nib s-mon s-yök.
if go to DEF-home, see DEF-man DEF-child
'If the man went home, he saw his children.'

(3)
Re kây bo s-neub, nib s-mon s-yök.
if go to DEF-home, see DEF-man DEF-child
'If the man had gone home, he would have seen his children.'

seeb 'SIMULTANEOUS, FACTUAL'
nöodl 'SIMULTANEOUS, NONFACTUAL'
dléy 'SIMULTANEOUS, COUNTERFACTUAL'

yâ 'POSTERIOR FACTUAL'
rés 'POSTERIOR, NONFACTUAL'
mul 'POSTERIOR COUNTERFACTUAL'

More conjunctions coming, just generated words

So the Lord caused him to die. Then Judah said to Onan, ‘You should marry your dead brother's wife and have sex with her. You are her dead husband's brother. You must have a son who will become your dead brother's descendant.’

Ditransitive constructions

Dlor has primary and secondary objects rather than direct and indirect ones.

The secondary object is marked with the instrumental preposition me and it follows the primary object.

Nam tlee smon me näm.
give sg1 DEF.man PREP gift
'I gave the man a gift.'

snäm mo menam tlee smon
DEF.gift REL PREP.give sg1 DEF.man
'the gift that I gave to the man'

Emotions are expressed by statives

Statives cannot have an object, so the experiencer is expressed with a PP of tge genitive preposition ra. The experiencer however takes the position of the logical subject right to the verb.

Dëek ra tlee pu.
dear PREP sg1 sg2
'I love you.'
lit. 'In my opinion, you are dear.'

Dëek pu.
'You are dear.'

(2)

'If the man had gone home, he would have seen his children.'

I think it's enough to have triplets for

'though'
'as' (in the meaning of 'in a similar manner') (this could be a compound conjunction, something like 'so that')
'when, because, for' (a general conjugation of time and reason) (factuality codes much of what English does with distinct conjunctions)
'that' (a nominalizing conjunction of relative and complement clauses)

I could actually get rid of the strict distinction between verbs and statives.

All non-telic verbs could modify the noun they follow.

See I person sleep
'I saw a sleeping person.'

But telic verbs cannot.

See I person that fall-in-sleep
'I saw a person that fell in sleep.'

Röom means both 'time' and 'light' (both in the abstract uncountable sense) because before clocks the time was inferred from the amount of light.

One instrumental prefix is mo- 'with all ones weight' 'with ones bottom'
With nominal roots it means 'to break'

röom 'time'
möroom 'to be late'

bur 'to love'
mobur 'to make love'

When I have started translating things into Dlor it has appeared that nouns should have more morphology.
No the only device is tonal changes (mek in the previous post). It is just very little. English at least these romance words that are morphologically complex. Mandarin has very productive compounding. The thing closest to compounding in Dlor is phrases (X of Y). They can be very lexicalized but it still seems to be too little.

Maybe Dlor could still have a class of English-style adjectives.

All static verbs could also be expressed by adjectives 'I am (a) sitter.' instead of 'I sit.'

Instrumental prefixes could be added to adjective roots (if they exist) to form exocentric (bahuvrihi) compounds. Instrumental prefixes usually derive from a body part.

ku-mor
mouth-big
'talkative'

They stay adjectives instead of becoming verbs as instrumental prefixes usually do. They are ideosyncretic semantically.

1. Hooray! Bahuvrihi!
2. In this usage you mean “idiosyncratic”, not “ideosyncretic”!

The phonology is still a bit boring. In the end, I didn't take the prestopped consonants.

There could still be /q/ and /c/.
They realize as affricates before vowels.
Word-finally they are stops. See that /k/ is a glottal word-finally.

'after when I do' means 'when i have done'
'after that I do' means 'that I will do'

I think 'though' will also be a preposition + a conjunction.

My latest phonological idea is that all alveolars have a palatalized pair. But the palatalized alveolars, as well as /j/ and /c/, can appear only before a +ATR vowel.

Maybe?
It would though create 6 new phonemes.
