You follow Ai, and eventually come back to Pancake's house. Ai knocks on the door.
Pancake opens it. "Huh? Ai, what have I told you about bringing in strays."
"They used Ko."
Pancake throws the door open.
"WHAT!?"
Ai looks at you.
"Do it."
Do it?
Run away?
he/him, they/them Forgive me if I seem uneducated or disorganized, I am new to the community and vocab.
(d20: 20)
(you're kidding me)
(luckily I do have an ancient human magic system)
You use the Ko again, and the dam lifts. long streams of light emit from your hands, forming symbols you don't recognize.
Ai points to one symbol.
"It n'de la se'keo lu." (It's writing "human".) Ai says. "Pe lu." (colloquialism for "again").
"Pe luo!?" (Again!?) Pancake exclaims.
"Um... what are you saying?" You stop using the Ko, and the dam doesn't come back this time.
"De'i wae'de!" (They're not A'de!)
Leave?
Wait for them to explain?

Wait for them to explain?
I've become slightly less convinced that I'm destined for an indescribably hellish demise. Now that I seem to have garnered some respect from Pancake, I decide to await their explanation... though I'm still fairly certain I'm screwed anyhow.
Ai and Pancake continue arguing for a while, until turning to you.
"Look, so-"
"Well, you-"
Pancake takes precedent.
"Okay, so. You are apparently the only human to do this in thousands of years, and by all accounts you are not special in any way."
Ai nods. "We'll have to go to the Library to try and find information about the ancient Sen'ko system."
Pancake guestures wildly. "Ugh! I really don't want to have to deal with another Incident."

"OK, first of all, seems like I'm plenty special if I'm the first human in who knows how long to do this 'ko' stuff. Second, what 'incident'? And third, I'm all for going to this library."
(side note, this is really fun and I kind of want to try it with my own conworld.)

"No, everyone knows how to use it, it's just that humans can't no matter how hard they try. There's too many surpressed emotions that block the channels!" Pancake explains, if a little angrily.
Ai looks at Pancake. "Wait, that's the reason? I thought humans were just insufficient? Like, they would die if they tried?"
Pancake shakes his head. "No, that's just Kahn." What does insufficient mean? Pancake thinks.

I'm plenty special
"You misunderstand. The problem is that you aren't obviously special in any way. We don't know what's letting you do this."
"An Incident is an event that is widespread, usually negative, and usually starts with something strange or ancient happening. Like you using Ko." "Speaking of which, we can't afford to just sit around and do nothing. Let's go to the Library, and see if Ess knows anything."

"I know what the word incident means, you said 'another incident', as in something specific. I want to know what that specific incident was. I also don't like the way you said that word."
[I'm assuming the capital <I> in Incident indicates some meaningful change in intonation or something.]

While still suspicious, I decide not to press the issue. Anyway, If I truly have such power, it may mean I have a fighting chance if things go south.

I'm Too Lazy To Describe The Way To The Library And Anyway Nothing Important Would Happen So: The Library
You find yourself in a huge library with books on every shelf, some with ancient, worn covers, while others have brand new, sparkling covers. Some seem to be still warm from the printing press!
Pick a book?
Look around?

Imma have a look around.
The Library seems to shift as you look around.
Pancake grabs your arm. "Don't even think about it. You'll get lost."
As he speaks, a tall woman with blue grey hair and a white dress walks...? no, floats, into the aisle. "Oh, hello again Pancake, Ai. Who's this?" "Just a random human that can somehow use Ko." "Ah. Okay."
She floats off, into a different aisle.
After a few seconds, Pancake begins to walk, slowly. "Follow me."
Follow?
Pick a book?
Run off on your own?

"Why was that woman's reaction so casual? Y'all were freaking out about this ko business earlier."
"She's a god. She has other things to care about." Pancake pulls a book, and speaks into it. "Sen'ko pagi wo?" The book returns to the shelf, then the books all fly out, and other books replace them, and you find yourself in the self proclaimed "Ancient History" section, the sign newly painted.
Pull a book?
Chat with Pancake?

Getting actionable information out of these guys seems harder than squeezing blood from a stone. I decide seek answers within one of the books.
The book has strange symbols that you don't understand. One of the symbols looks familiar. The symbol that forms when your ko appears?
