I guess life insurance would change. Could you explain your scenario more?

What do you mean when you say "disappearing in the future"? Do future in you conworld can change only by something like time machines? Or maybe there are multiple timelines?

Not having luck finding out what a "Dwemer disappearance" is. When I wikipedia "Dwemer", it just takes me to an Elder Scrolls article that talks about the Dwarf race of Elder Scrolls being called the Dwemer.

However, I think elvish are overdone for conlangs, and wondering what some other species I could make a language for aside from your stock races (dwarves, orcs, etc.)
It just struck me: Has anyone ever created a conlang for leprechauns?
Probably, Irish English plus some Irish Gaelic would be a good start?
I was thinking an Irish-sounding conlang too.

I'm indeed pondering an anthology fantasy akin to the Elder Scrolls. One potential society would mimic the Dwemer in vanishing, but as a twist vanish in the future of the setting instead of the past. I'm interested in potential societal ramifications besides not lending money, or if the idea's just dumb or if the twist's already been done.

There's an assumed present setting after which this event will happen later. The hows and whys are not known, just that it will.

I'm not sure there is is anything more to it - in the Norse Sagas, the Dwemer (by any spelling) seem to be pretty interchangeable with dwarves, though in a few places they become older and more mysterious parents(?) of dwarves-the-people...so in my fanfiction, I took that approach: that the Dwemer had uplifted the Dwarves from little things burrowing in that first frozen carcass, to tool-users.

I'm working on a map for the first time in a long while. Neither the north or south poles have land on them but there is land near both. Would that (possibly) be enough to form ice sheets or would I need to change things?

There would be ice sheets, yes, over the water and the land.

I’m trying to make a map for a world that is mostly ocean. How do I make realistic-looking islands (using Inkarnate)?

I don't know Inkarnate, but you should decide on some basic plate tectonics. Figure that archipelagos are going to pop up anywhere with a lot of volcanism, that said archipelagos will form gentle curves, and that the islands themselves will look different depending on what kind of magma/lava formed them.

If you have any continents at all, you can extend mountain ranges into the oceans for more island chains. Try studying the Ring of Fire in the Pacific to get an idea how these both work. It might be useful to make plates on your world smaller than is usual on Earth to increase the area with active volcanism, but I don't honestly know what would cause that.

By using something other than Inkarnate.

If you just want tips on making islands look right, remember that a lot of islands are part of chains. If you have any continents these chains can be continuations of mountain chains going off into the sea. If not, then remember that they can result from areas high in volcanism. Either way, archipelagos are likely to form crescent shapes. What the individual islands will look like will depend on how they were formed, and from what materials.

Some islands can also be formed from the remnants of corral holding onto sand, or even just sand bars from sediment deposition. These are going to be less stable, but they would makes things a bit more interesting. They're going to be more rounded on average, and fairly low-lying.

I'm in now way an island expert but I've been working on my own maps recently.

If you think it’s a good idea, you might start a sub-topic of C&C called Althists or Alternate Histories. Then anyone who has an alternate history can start their thread in that subtopic.
If you can’t, or don’t know how, to do this, ask for help from a moderator.
