Many children make up, or begin to make up, imaginary languages. I have been at it since I could write.

Oh. Well, making "boy" a back-vowel word and "girl" a front-vowel word sounds like a good idea, at least.

Lexember 26 - Yélian

demian [ˈdeːmɪ̯ɐn] - imaginary friend, spiritual companion, manifested Id
Etymology: from Hermann Hesse's Demian, which caused a Hessemania in the Yéliosphere in the 40s and 50s.

USAGE NOTES: A demian usually refers to some kind of spiritual companion which is rather popular in Yélian culture that serves as an inner second voice guiding you towards your goals, similar to the character Demian in Hesse's novel (at least according to one popular interpretation; The other one is that Demian was actually a real person. But the latter interpretation is not popular at all in the Yéliosphere). There is a Yélian literature genre called Demianvius (Demian-like) which was popular in the aforementioned time period, where authors have verbal disputes with their demian.
It can also be used to refer to a child's more mundane imaginary friends, but occasionally oc

paneīs, a tribe with only one homeland.
paneīsu, a paneīs that is a minority even its own homeland.
paneīsa, a paneīs that is a majority in its homeland but lives nowhere else.

There are tribes that live in compact habitats and those that live spread out. The latter type is typically exogamous and I think of them as more like political parties than tribes, but even these groups tend to be mostly hereditary rather than seeing people rapidly join and leave as their opinions change, and their ideologies may be very similar to their greatest enemies' ideologies, so in a sense they are still very tribelike.

Whereas by contrast the paneīs groups are tribelike all the time, with little ideology to unite them, since they would rather stay close to an ideological enemy who shares their ancestry than join with an ideological ally who does not.

I just read it last week and it reminded me that I used to have a Demian myself at around the same age (17, 18). He disappeared when I became the person I had wanted to be. Expressing these things in my personal conlang might be my favorite part of this obscure hobby!

Lexember 28 - Yélian

mican [ˈmiːkɐn] - former friend, lost friend, involuntary no-contact; non-romantic holiday acquaintance
Etymology: related to muca "to perish, to sink, to disappear"

USAGE NOTES: a mican is a person who used to be a somewhat close friend that you've lost contact with without really wanting to. The kind of person where, due to changing life situations, all of a sudden you think back at them fondly and realize you haven't spoken for three years.
It is NOT used when the contact stopped voluntarily, neither by a fight nor by the other person nor being interested in contact (careful observers of Lexember might remember that in 2023 I created the adjective cepale for that). A mican is a person where you'd expect to immediately reconnect with and expect the other person to think the same.

While browsing through my cloud image storage, I came across a picture of Pato, an old friend from college—it's been years, but I’m sure we’d pick up right where we left off.

New words for the example sentence:

cruba [ˈkruːbɐ] - to browse, to look around in something aimlessly
Etymology: semantic extension - cruba also means "to dig, to barrow"

cloud [ˈklɔʊ̯d] - cloud (Web Service)
Etymology: loan from English cloud but pronounced like a Yélian word.

fainaca [ɸaɪ̯ˈbiːkɐ] - to get on well with someone, to hit it off with someone; to have a good conversation
Etymology: from fai "good" + naca "to talk"
