You don't ask about the place of living, but rather about the place where they're most likely to be encountered, i.e. their "homeground", so to speak. However, as this is not the case anymore, it's very unlikely that someone will actually answer garmbai væ... - if you do, and your accent doesn't immediately give away that you're a foreigner, you might get some concerned questions if everything is all right with your flat.
