Been getting into this band. Lyrics in both English and Hindi (and I think they have one song in Punjabi), so that's fun. What I really love is the instrumentation: it combines Indian folk music with heavy metal (generally a nü-metal sound), plus some usage of synths. Not to mention, lyrics chock-full of social commentary. I've never heard anything quite like them. Highly recommend.

Late reply, but Bloodywood is damn good [:D] I almost caved last year to go to Download just for the day they were playing (Behemoth, Avatar, Electric Callboy, Slipknot, and a few others were on on the same day as well), because I wasn't sure when they'd be back in the UK (and I've missed seeing Behemoth like 5 times now, haha), but chose not to just because of the cost

The three(?) songs they've released this year (one with BabyMetal) have all been really good too. Even Tadka, which on the surface just comes across as a "fun song about curry" still manages to have a hint of social commentary, which was a nice little surprise. I've been enjoying the kind of SAOD/RATM levels of social commentary mixed in with the sort of fun "boppiness" of kawaii metal and nu-metal, and being damn heavy when they really want to go for it
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Yeah, they feel like spiritual successors to SOAD.

Lately I've been returning to my prog roots. Fans of prog metal and/or opera would do well to check out devA. (They deserve more than 12 monthly listeners! Murther is a concept album, so I'd recommend listening to it straight through.)

I've been at work on a solo project thing lately. It started as "progressive groove metal," but quickly became some horrendous thing best described as "early Metallica but there are breakdowns instead of solos, Cliff is audible in the mix, and they replaced Lars with some nerd programming a midi file." I can't sing, like at all, so I might look for a vocalist at my school. (Or, yknow, anywhere I can find someone willing to work with me)
