A little bit on the clunky side as translations go, but probably the best way to convey all the information in the original sentence in a context-free setting would be the following:

1sg-Vpl-hear Vpl-thing 3erg-Ipl-strike-NOM-PL Ipl-person IIpl-bear

IIpl-bear 3erg-Ipl-strike-IND-PL Ipl-person

Complementizers are nonexistent thus far, and conjunctions like "and" as in "Bears killed people and I heard it" are especially unlikely for verbs with evidentiary meanings.

Re: Bear stories
It seems there are two different interpretations of the sentence. Either being killed by bears or being killed by others because of bears.
So here are two versions:
Naguil
Eorembil naldais fiel bennes ma lyrnil bagunes anao / ansain.
/ɛɔ'rɛmbil 'naɫdais fjɛl 'bɛnːɛs ma 'lyːrnil 'baːgunɛs a'naːɣo / an'zaːim./
I heard stories there people become killed while bears the reason / the sake.
Eorembil naldais fiel bennes ilyrnas baguas.
/ɛɔ'rɛmbil 'naɫdais fjɛl 'bɛnːɛs i'yːrnas 'baːgwas./
I heard stories there people being killed of bears.
There's even bennes ilyrnas bagunes anao possible, which could translate to people killing themselves because of bears
anao /a'naːɣo/ = short form of anargua = out of the source / ground / reason
ansain /an'zaːim/ = short form of ansalmia = to the sake / matter / problem
So here are two versions:
Naguil
