Sorry, but are you joking? It's hard to tell online.

Oh...sorry for that, I didn't read the rule before playing the game, I thought Google Translate is allowed, and I also didn't read opipik's comment above as well. Sorry I was too fastshimobaatar wrote: ↑11 Dec 2017 17:45Sorry, but are you joking? It's hard to tell online.

Re: Guess The Language!!!
Well It's kind of a trivial rule really because nobody's going to post a language if it's so commonly known that you can Google Translate it, it's just not obscure enough.
Re: Guess The Language!!!
Well I said I was too fast and didn't really think. But if nobody's going to post a language that Google Translate can recognize, then using GT doesn't help anyway, why is it a rule for not to use?Frislander wrote: ↑15 Dec 2017 15:45Well It's kind of a trivial rule really because nobody's going to post a language if it's so commonly known that you can Google Translate it, it's just not obscure enough.

Re: Guess The Language!!!
It's fine to not know the rules at the start, since the thread was started by a now inactive user, meaning we can't add the rules to the OP.
I should have phrased the rule I cited better. The rule is against looking up the text or a portion of it using a search engine, including searching the text on Google or putting it through Google Translate. I don't know if it still does this, but I remember at least a few years ago, Google Translate could still identify languages that it wasn't yet able to translate to or from. Frislander's right, though. Most of the languages people post in this thread are probably too obscure to be identified like that. The game would be too easy if people were allowed to just look up the text. (We had problems in the past with a user guessing correctly right away every round because they just copied and pasted the text into Google… although they wouldn't admit it.)
And yeah, it's always good to read what other people have already guessed.
