Prinsessa wrote: ↑18 Mar 2012 10:22 Can be said in lots of ways in Swedish. I'll try some.
Swedish makes no difference between perfective and imperfective past.
Jag gick i skogen, när med ens en gren föll i huvudet mitt.
"I walked in the forest, when of a sudden a branch fell into the head mine."
I skogen traskade jag, då en trädgren så datt i min skalle.
"In the forest walked I, then a treebranch so fell in my skull."
Å färde var jag i genom skogen och så trillade utan förvarning en diger kvist upp å hjässan min.
"On journey was I through the forest and so fell without forewarning a large twig upon the top of head mine."
Under en skogstur fick jag rätt ur det blåa en gren i knoppen.
"During a foresttrip got I right out of the blue a branch in the bud."
Note how the possessive pronoun disappears in the last one. We generally don't use them in such cases, like where, in this example, I said 'I got […] in (my) head', because by saying who got it there, it's unnecessary to specify whose head it was. We already know.
Now, I had some fun with the words above. I'd expect to hear something like this out of most, boring people:
Alltså... Jag liksom gick i skogen, bara, och så bara plötsligt får jag värsta greeeeeenen i skallen!!!!!!!
Like... I, like, walked in the forest (<- how can you be uncertain of something like that?), like, and so like suddenly get (<- SUDDEN TENSE SHIFT :pPPP) I the worst (<- what?!) braaaaaanch in the skull!!!!!!!
I'm not going to gloss that.
It was so funny (jag skrattade hårt) that I wanted to translate it However, it's indeed quite a challenge especially with the unique words. I translated "knoppen" with a fruit, which is quite common in German for head (=Birne = pear).
I was walking in the forest when a branch fell on my head.

I was walking in the forest when a branch fell on my head.
Interestingly, I have already translated this sentence. Back in 2012, so there have been... some... changes in the interim. Visually the most obvious is probably my decision to retain Rireinutire punctuation in Human-script transcription.
Rireinutire is defiantly pro-drop. Also, it is disrespectful to put oneself forward (in a too obvious fashion) so opening a sentence with ma <1S.NOM> is marked language.
reme is still the word of choice for 'forest'. While ñoku also means 'forest', it means a more tamed forest, one under silviculture, and thus probably less likely to drop branches on unwary passers-by.
While puke still means 'branch', it is a more abstract term. Presumably it was a tree branch (vite) instead of some other branching thing that the speaker got on her head.
The speaker's head received the benefit of the action, and benefactive is part of the portfolio of the adessive case, so peña-ha <head-ADE> it is.
