Re: Conlang accents
It is a jokelang. I can put this in an actual conlangHoskhMatriarch wrote:I hope this is a jokelang, because that phonology looks like a literal attempt to use every weird symbol on the IPA chart. I thought Klingon was unnaturalistic... Also, you're supposed have them read it as-is, not with grammatical features added from other languages, otherwise my language would say "they with the reason the conscience-and endowed are" or something like that.Birdlang wrote:[ă̙ː ʝuɱ bɨɴʑɔ bɔɴ ɮiː ɯɨɕɔɭ ʕɨɧɦɥʋɨ hʁɔ̃ dɨ̈ʁʈɪ ɱʀɑɨʨ. ɟɛɴɖɑʊ ɬɔɨʒɑɥ ʡɞɲɑ ɖɑʀʦ ʂɨɽɨ ɓʀʌðʌʜħʉɗ]
Yes, I know the phonology is unlike English. They joined words together to make it shorter, a common feature in their language.

This is what RP would sound like in the Southern Kingdom of Wínland.
Some of the archaic features of (Southern) Wínlandisc have been carried over: The past participle [ɪ-] and an almost suppressed inflectional schwa [ᵊ].
All rhotic schwas [ɚ] = [ᵊɻ ~ Vːɻ] before vowels, [əɻ] elsewhere.
A Southerner would most likely dismiss the modern English spellings as ‘Highland-Northern’ and complain about Modern English (especially Cockney) pronunciations being ‘the most vulgar and broad from anywhere, especially from the Noth-West of the Northern Magellanian Confederacy, as well as Luchden’.

This is my attempt at adapting the beginning of the UDHR in my idiolect English to the phonology of Project Steppe. Hopefully I didn't make any mistakes. I'm not sure, in all honesty, what I was expecting, but I can say it wasn't this. I also included a transcription of the "accent" in Project Steppe's romanization.

Re: Conlang accents
I Kaita orthography (I will come back and put the phonetics in):
An yuwan wiiyinsi aa woon θinii an iikuwan in tikiniti an rayci. Θey aa entaawiti wiθi yiison an konsiyensiyansi an suutu akiti towooci won anaθa in a siwiti o woθahuuti
And thats allowing for o and u to precede coda nasals and w, which they don't natively (see the Kaita thread). Including this, the result comes out as:
An yiwan wiiyinsi aa waan θinii an iikiwan in tikiniti an rayci. Θey aa entaawiti wiθi yiisan an kansiyensiyansi an suutu akiti tewooci wan anaθa in a siwiti o woθahuuti.
Both of these are quite thick, though. For those with more familiarity with English, something more like this would be more likely:
Al yuwan wiiyins aa woon θrii an iikuwal in tiniti an rayc. Θey aa entawt wiθ riison an konsiyens an suut akit tuwaac wan anaθa in a swirit o wuraθahut

Re: Conlang accents
I'm sorry, but how is [θ] the closest sound your conlang has to [hj~ç]?OTʜᴇB wrote: Orderlang

Re: Conlang accents
This Edyssian has probably been trying to learn the language for a while, both written and spoken, although the unfortunate syllable structure and lack lf diversity in syllable final phonemes has made them creative with pronunciation. Luckily the Edyssian has less trouble with the vowels.

The Daorian in a similar situation laughs in the face of the mighty clusters, but then faces the unfortunate curse of vowel harmony (and the lack of a voiceless bilabial stop). In the end though, much better! I am happy.

Also, I usually don't have [ð] and/or [θ] in a conlang unless they're allophones or they're a big part of the family (my nascent semlangs come to mind). I was always led to believe they were weird, uncommon sounds that liked to dissapear. Was I wrong? And are they really that common, given that an individual conlanger's languages may be in their own conworld and not ours, and therefore not add to our world's census total of languages with those phonemes?
