Welcome to the 16th CBB Conlang Relay! With a healthy dose of plagiarism from past relays, here's a run-down for beginners of how this works :
When it is your turn in the relay, you will receive :
- a text in someone's conlang
- a description of the necessary grammar to gloss said text
- sufficient lexicon to translate the text into English
- a translation of said text into your conlang
- a description of the necessary grammar to gloss said text
- sufficient lexicon to translate the text into English
Turnaround time is 72 hours per person, as usual, however it is a soft limit. However, please try not to stretch it too much. A week (thereby including at least one full weekend) should be a very reasonable time to finish your task. If you foresee that you have a very busy or stressful week before your turn begins, or shortly thereafter, kindly give a heads-up in time and we can shift you further back in the queue. If you run through a full week without completing it and there is no sign that it will be done very soon after, your turn will be passed over to avoid the relay stalling.
Finally, to quote Jackk :
I hope to begin the relay sometime during the week of April 8th - 15th, and of course, have fun!TIPS & TRICKS
- If you cannot for the life of you find a word from the text in the lexicon you've been given, don't hesitate to message your predecessor. No-one is infallible and we forget random words all the time. :)
- Once you have translated your given text into English, consider doing a quick rewrite to smooth over any awkward phrasings or non sequiturs. Not only will this improve the coherency of your English translation and make it easier to render in your language (and later to decipher!), but it will also help the process of Chinese Whispers along!
Schedule :
Ring 1 :
Ring 2 :
The original text will have 151 words in English.
