Xi'im - The Speak
Re: Hi'im conlang
This is great. I need to take notes on the derivational morphology.
At work. Will be back.
Re: Xi'im - The Speak
I decided to ressurect my engelang Xi'im. I previously was planning to make it also artlang, but the core of Xi'im is unnaturalistic, so I don't know how to do it.
1. Phonology (X-SAMPA):
/p b pp\ bb\ p\ b\ m w/ p b f v pf bv m w
/t d ts dz s z n l/ t d ts dz s z n l
/k g kx gG x G j/ k g kx gr x r j
/h\ @*/ ' [unmarked]
/i y u/ i y u
/e o/ e o
/a/ a
max = CCVC (@ counts as V)
*#CC# to #C@C# and this the only situation when /@/ appears
2. How to make it an artlang?
3. Is better to allow CC as permitted syllable and make /@/ phonetic or make vowel required in all syllables and stay with phonemic /@/?

Re: Xi'im - The Speak
It is an artlang. The definition of an artlang is a language that is created as art (i.e. not an auxlang). This is not an auxlang, thus it is an artlang.TBPO wrote: ↑01 Sep 2024 18:48 I decided to ressurect my engelang Xi'im. The two are not equivalent. For example, if [ə] is phonemic, /kət/ > [kət] and /kət-a/ > [kəta], but if it's phonetic, /kt/ > [kət], /kt-a/ > [kta].

1) I asked the wrong question. How to make it naturalistic?Arayaz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2024 19:551) It is an artlang. 2) Thank you! Below are the changes:
/[...] N/ [...] q
/h\/ '

Syllable structure is (C)VC(C), in exception of #CC# where [@] is inserted between consonants.
Re: Xi'im - The Speak
What are your goals for Xi'im? Are you still making each sound representative of things?
At work. Will be back.
Re: Xi'im - The Speak
Yes. Goals are the same.
I decided that Xi'im needn't to be naturalistic.
