give it austronesian alignment go on
Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
Another proposal:
The words for “and” and “or” should default to /ma/ and /ɢa/ but should harmonize in some way with what they’re grammatically tied to and sometimes reduce to prefixes or suffixes. Maybe some related conjunctions should also work this way.

It doesn’t seem like we decided whether it should be synthetic or analytic.

Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
I always imagined CBBlang as extremally analytic and fusional, but synthesis is also ok.Kijetesantakalu042 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2025 21:37I find synthetic coolHolyHandGrenade! wrote: ↑07 Jan 2025 21:33 It doesn’t seem like we decided whether it should be synthetic or analytic.
I also think it's a good idea, but how it will work?
It will affect only function words? Will it affect also grammatical endings? Or maybe different roots for different categories will be a common thing?
And what "categories" will be in CBBlang? Based on gender/class? Number? Deixis/person? Or something else?

Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
I think lots of noun classes would be fun
Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
What conculture will speak our conlang? Cavemen? Medieval culture? Steampunk? Modern-time? Futuristic? Or something else?
(It's extremely crucial because word classes and a whole lexicon will depend on it.)

Nobody proposed anything, so I propose medieval culture.

What about renaissance or age of discovery? I feel like there’s a lot of interesting things you can do with that.

Of course, whatever we pick obviously won’t be the sole setting.
Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
Can you speak more clearly? I thought "Nerds" as "You're nerds", not "Let's choose a nerd culture for CBBlang".
I have no idea how to do it. I don't know well any epoch between Middle Ages and industrial age.HolyHandGrenade! wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:20 What about renaissance or age of discovery? I feel like there’s a lot of interesting things you can do with that.
Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
When you mention a nerd culture, My first thought was the Greens from Red Rising.
If you simply have the conjunction as an affix, it can create something I quite like where you have to wait until the end of the list to get the case of the noun. e.g: cat.and mouse.and dog.ERG see cheese.

I actually forgot when I made these posts that this was the “CBB makes a conlang” thread and not the “CBB makes a conworld” thread.HolyHandGrenade! wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:21 Of course, whatever we pick obviously won’t be the sole setting.

Re: The CBB Makes a conlang
I think the language should be head marking, with verb agreement but no case marking
