Another one

/p t k/
/pʰ tʰ kʰ/
/b d ɡ/
/f s x/
/m n ŋ/

Stressed vowels: /i u e o a/
Unstressed vowels: /ə ʷə~ʷʉ ʲə~ʲɨ/

Root structure: (CV[unstressed])CV[stressed](C)

Roots are ambiguous as to part of speech; the suffixes they receive clarify that.

Now some sound changes from that.

Nʷ > w̃ intervocalically; > w otherwise
f x > h
Kʷ Pʷ > P

Cʰ > hC / !_V

Here's a second language derived from that proto.

(ʷʉ ʲɨ rather than ʷə ʲə)
p t k b d ɡ f s x > b d ɡ v z ɣ v z ɣ / V_V
pʰ tʰ kʰ > f s x
ŋ > ɣ
ʷʉ ʲɨ > u i
x ɣ > ∅ / !_V[stressed]
x ɣ > h r / _V[stressed]
C₁C₂ > C₂C₂
durevə "water (nom.)"
durevi "water (acc.)"
durevuzə "lake (nom.)"
durevuzi "lake (acc.)"

durennə "I am/was drinking"
durennək "you are/were drinking"
duressə "I drank"
duressək "you drank"

hizə "leg (nom.)"
hizi "leg (acc.)"
hinə "I am/was running"
hinək "you are/were running"
hisə "I ran"
hisək "you ran"
Here are the protoforms I'm using, by the way:
Spoiler:
dʷəxefə "water (nom.)"
dʷəxefʲə "water (acc.)"
dʷəxefʷəsə "lake (nom.)"
dʷəxefʷəsʲə "lake (acc.)"

dʷəxefnə "I am/was drinking"
dʷəxefnək "you are/were drinking"
dʷəxeftʰə "I drank"
dʷəxeftʰək "you drank"

kʰisə "leg (nom.)"
kʰisʲə "leg (acc.)"
kʰinə "I am/was running"
kʰinək "you are/were running"
kʰitʰə "I ran"
kʰitʰək "you ran"
ṭobayna agami-yo ni, alibayna ṭojə-yo ni...

/t k/
/s h/
/m n/
/r l/

/i u/
/e/
/a/

CVC* syllable structure. Acceptable internal clusters: /mm nn rr ll st sk ht hk/. Permitted word-final codas: /n s r/.

/h/ is elided intervocalically.

Syllable nuclei may be /a e i u/, or a diphthong /ai au eu/.

Stress is ultimate with a word-final coda, penultimate if the penultimate syllable is closed and the ultimate is open, and initial otherwise. The language is stress-timed.

Nouns fall into three declensions, ending with /-e/, /-u/, or /-ir/. Almost all declension III (-ir) nouns are derived; only two declension III roots exist: kir "man" and mehir "ice."

More later. Gotta go pack.

Hiatus until further notice: Part Two

Due to the decreasing time available to me, and the burnout that has plagued me for a long time, I will again be mostly off of the CBB for some time. I will most likely be able to respond to PMs and quotes, and I love notifications so hesitate not, but I will be essentially inactive otherwise. Not sure when I'll be back, but if I ever am able to conlang again, fear not: I shall be back to bother you again at the slightest sign of improvement in my condition.

I'm often burnt out, but good cures are:
-Morphophonology,
-Some non-related activity (f.e. philosophy),
-Conworlding.

I especially recommend the last one. Start will be hard, but it can become a passion. Lots of great conworlders started their journeys from conlangs.

I and a lot of other people here will miss you! But maybe while you are away, your mind will come upon the seed of a conlang and conworld tjat you are ready to devote your life to.

I've been spending a lot of time lately doing research into the Ancient Nal'e language. I found it rather surprising that there was so little comprehensive documentation, despite a fair number of sources. Most of the existing publications on the subject are just analyses of preserved writing fragments, with relatively little discussion of the grammar in general.

I did find this, about the oblique case.
